NIIT Technologies wins fourth CCTNS project
Strengthens Company’s participation in large System Integration programs
New Delhi, India, 27th August, 2012, Monday :- NIIT Technologies Ltd. (NSE: NIITTECH), a leading global IT solutions organization today announced that it has been selected as the system integrator for implementation of the ambitious Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) for the state of Odisha. CCTNS is a comprehensive and integrated nationwide system designed to help the police investigate crime and detect criminals with a view to enhance security and improve service to citizens. The value of the engagement is Rs.43 Crores, taking the total order value from this program to Rs.347 Crores.
The implementation of CCTNS in the state of Odisha will facilitate digitization of police records of last 10 years, approximately 25 lacs records in total. This will help in linking 581 police stations, connecting 728 locations. NIIT Technologies will be training 28000 police personnel across the state of Odisha to help getting them familiarized with the digitization know-how.

Under CCTNS project, investigating officers will have technology and information to facilitate investigation of crime and detection of criminals through use of IT. It will also help in tracking progress of cases at ground level and in Courts and help in speedy disposals. The system is meant to improve connectivity and enhance crime fighting capabilities of the Police by facilitating collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data by the police in the country.

Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) is a comprehensive and integrated system initiated by the Union government for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in the country. The system has been designed to create a nationwide IT-enabled system to help the police investigate crime and detect criminals. CCTNS will connect and share real-time information and data on crime and criminals throughout the states and country thereby strengthening the information base of the investigating officers. With the completion of CCTNS implementation in the country, over 14,000 police stations around 6,000 district police headquarters, fingerprint bureaus and forensic science laboratories in the country will be linked to a common IT platform enabling the investigating officials to get the data of any criminal at the click of a mouse.
