Service-Oriented Architecture is an architectural style of building
software applications that promotes loose coupling between components.
Increasing interconnections among businesses have created a demand
for services that have published contracts/interfaces, can be dynamically
discovered and are interoperable. SOA appears to be the most appropriate
technique for satisfying this need. In addition, SOA also provides
methods to allow applications of different generation to interact
with each other and coexist.
However, SOA with its emphasis on loose coupling has thrown up
many challenges which need to be overcome before it can become a
standard method for architecting enterprise applications. To enable
this, it is necessary to foster discussion and dissemination of
new ideas among experts in software engineering and practitioners.
