Mr Rajendra S Pawar felicitated with the Geospatial Entrepreneur of the Year Award

New Delhi, May 8, 2008: NIIT Technologies, a leading IT solutions organization with its headquarters in New Delhi, today announced that Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, NIIT Technologies has been conferred the Geospatial Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Geospatial Today publication. The award was handed over by the Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Mr. Kapil Sibal, in a ceremony which was held at Le Meridien, New Delhi.

The award recognizes and reward the companies and the people who have achieved the highest standards in the geospatial industry and leading the industry. Based on the set benchmarks in innovation, achievement, competency, proven pattern of improved results, adherence to ethical business practices and setting challenging objectives, nominations received from the government, industry and the academia, selections were made for the awards.

The ceremony was followed by a Geospatial Round Table discussion along with the honourable Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Mr. Kapil Sibal on the theme - GIS in India Challenges and Opportunities . The prime objective was to discuss the scope and use of geospatial technology, key drivers and challenges, policy issues, economic and social benefits it could bring, current scenario of the industry and its future. The panellists included the CEOs of five of the major GIS companies of India, including NIIT Technologies.
