  • British Airways receives the NASSCOM “Business Transformation Award” for 2007-08

    Mr Willie Walsh, CEO, British Airways, UK's largest international scheduled airline has received the prestigious NASSCOM "Business Transformation Award" for 2007-08 for innovative use of technology within an organisation.

    The awards were presented at a ceremony in India on the sidelines of the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum 2008 and the winners were felicitated by the Civil Aviation Minister, Government of India, Mr. Praful Patel and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh.

    Mr Willie Walsh CEO, British Airways thanked NASSCOM for the Business Transformation award saying "It is a great honour and means a great deal to everyone here at British Airways.

    IT has genuinely transformed British Airways. Through the effective use of IT we have lowered our cost base, significantly improved our efficiency but most importantly we have improved our customer service and we have been assisted in this through the relationships we have established with the Indian IT industry and through the partnerships we have developed in the past ten years."

    The awards, conceptualised and presented by NASSCOM, seek to recognise some of the most outstanding business leaders and visionaries from across the world. The Business Transformation Award is conferred to an individual who has encouraged the use of technology within the organisation to achieve business goals and operational excellence. This individual would have spearheaded initiatives to automate the processes of the company to improve product/service quality and enhance customer responsiveness. The award was received by Mr. Robert Webb, General Counsel and Mr.Paul Coby, CIO, British Airways.
