  • NIIT Technologies eyes major share of the CCTNS program

    Secured engagements with cumulative value of Rs. 300 Crores

    Mumbai, India, 15th February, 2012: NIIT Technologies Ltd. (NSE: NIITTECH), a leading global IT solutions organization announced its contribution to reinforce the Indian Police in its modernization efforts by playing a significant role in the implementing of the ambitious Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS). CCTNS is a comprehensive and integrated nationwide system designed to help the police investigate crime and detect criminals with a view to enhance security and improve service to citizens.

    Union Government has announced results of 12 states thus far and NIIT Technologies has been selected as the system integrator in 3 of the states. These include the states of Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The cumulative value of these engagements exceeds Rs.300 Crores. The Company is in active pursuit of engagements in other states as well.

    Recently, NIIT Technologies commissioned the prestigious Rs. 228 Crores Intranet Prahari project for Border Security Force, which was inaugurated by the Honorable Union Home Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram. Execution of work in two of the states around the implementation of CCTNS is already underway.

    Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) is a comprehensive and integrated system initiated by the Union government for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in the country. The system has been designed to create a nationwide IT-enabled system to help the police investigate crime and detect criminals. CCTNS will connect and share real-time information and data on crime and criminals throughout the states and country thereby strengthening the information base of the investigating officers. With the completion of CCTNS implementation in the country, over 14,000 police stations around 6,000 district police headquarters, fingerprint bureaus and forensic science laboratories in the country will be linked to a common IT platform enabling the investigating officials to get the data of any criminal at the click of a mouse.
