Mr. Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman and Co-Founder of NIIT Group that encompasses NIIT Limited, a leading Global Talent Development Corporation, and NIIT Technologies Limited, the software and services arm. As a co-founder of the NIIT Group, Mr. Pawar has not only revolutionized the IT training industry, but is also recognized as a global technology thought leader.
As the Chairman of India’s IT industry body- National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), Mr. Pawar has led several ICT industry initiatives, giving voice to the sector’s aspirations and goals. Earlier during 1990-92, as the President of MAIT (Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology), Mr. Pawar integrated MAIT’s activities with other leading industry associations of India.
A Fellow member of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and the Institution of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Mr. Pawar was awarded an Honorary Doctoral Degree by Rajiv Gandhi Technical University (MP) in 2005.
Awards and Accomplishments
Mr Arvind Thakur is the CEO and Joint Managing Director of NIIT Technologies Ltd, a global IT solutions and business services organization. He has led the business to the category of top providers. In 2012 he was conferred the prestigious global Gold Stevie award as Executive of the Year in the computer services category.
He serves on the boards of the company’s overseas subsidiaries and is the Chairman of the domestic joint venture with ESRI Inc. He is also a director on an innovative venture, Hole-in-the Wall Education Ltd, enabling technology to be deployed for educating the masses, and serves on the Board of Management of NIIT University, a not for profit institution. He is active in industry forums and an elected member of the Nasscom Executive Council.
Mr Thakur graduated in engineering from IIT- Kharagpur where he received the Institute Silver medal for ranking first in the department. Thereafter he pursued post graduation in Industrial Engineering and started his career with BHEL, before joining NIIT in 1985.
Mr. Vijay K Thadani is the Director of NIIT Technologies and co-founder of the NIIT Group. He has been instrumental in building an organization that is recognized for its visionary role in bringing the benefits of Information Technology, as a professional skill and as a learning tool.
A ‘Distinguished Alumnus’ of the premier Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Mr. Thadani was honored with the position of ‘Economic Consultant’ to Chongqing, world’s largest city in the People’s Republic of China.
He has been actively engaged with many industry associations.
Mr. Singh is a Non-Executive Independent Director at NIIT Technologies. A retired IAS Officer, Mr. Singh has held senior positions in the Central and State Governments. He joined Public Service in 1959 and was Special Secretary to the Prime Minister of India. He was responsible for the economic work in PMO, Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Secretary to the Council of Ministers and Secretary to the Ministry of Industry.
Mr. Singh has also served as an Executive Director on the Board of the World Bank, representing India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. He has also held directorships on the Boards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
Mr. Amit Sharma is the Non-Executive Independent Director at NIIT Technologies. Prior to this current role, he was the Asia President for American Tower Corporation. Before joining NIIT Technologies, he was with Motorola and was leading teams in India and Southeast Asia as Country President, India and Head of Strategy, Asia-Pacific. He has also served on Motorola’s Asia Pacific Board. Before joining Motorola, he was with GE Capital, as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, and also served as a core member of McKinsey electronics and marketing practices.
Mr. Sharma serves on the Advisory Board of New Enterprise Associates, an $8.5 Billion venture capital firm, focused on helping entrepreneurs create and build new enterprises that use technology to improve people’s lives.
Mr. Sharma completed his MBA in International Business from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he was on the Dean’s List and the Director’s Honors List. He also holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from the Moore School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
He is a Financial Management veteran and has extensive experience in investment/acquisition advisory services, valuations and decision analysis, business and financial restructuring, dispute analysis and forensics.
He has served on various committees of the Banking Division/Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and INSOL International. He also served as a member of PWC’s Global Advisory Leadership Team. He is currently the Managing Partner of Veritas Advisors LLP, which provides strategy, governance and financial advisory services. He is a Non-Executive Director in Aditya Birla Finance Limited and Chairman of its Audit Committee.
Mr. Puri is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Management Accountant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
Dr. Holly J. Morris has extensive experience as a corporate IT and operations executive in Fortune 500 global financial services organizations, local government and manufacturing. From 2006 to 2012, she was the CIO at Thrivent Financial, a Fortune 500 financial services organization where she led the creation and implementation of a $250M modernization program to retire legacy systems and implement new technology to enable the company’s growth strategy. Holly also served as the SVP of technologies at American Express Global Financial Services. She held CIO and CTO positions at ING North America, and was also CIO for the City of Minneapolis. She started her career at Honeywell where she rose to Section Head of Computer Aided Engineering, and then moved to the at the Honeywell spin-off, Alliant Techsystems, where she was responsible for all business and manufacturing systems.
Since retiring, Holly has been advising global IT delivery companies and has continued several volunteer activities, serving universities, non-profits and government on innovative ways to re-invent themselves given today’s technology opportunities and challenges. She served on the board of Royal Cameron Corporation and Highland Capital Brokerage Corporation and was recognized as an “Outstanding Woman” by Twin Cities Business and as one of the “Elite 8” by Insurance and Technology magazine.
Holly holds a BA in Classics from Kent State University, an MA and PhD in Ancient Studies from the University of Minnesota and is close to completing her masters in software systems from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, MN. While a student, her research interests included using computing tools such data bases, statistical packages and simulation technology to better understand ancient social and economic systems.
